I used to believe I was free, when I wasn’t.
I was simply conditioned and programmed to believe I was free because I paid my dues and “earned” my stripes. I was allowed to go on “vacation” a couple times a year and I was sometimes granted 3-day weekends.
I used to believe I was rich when I wasn’t. I was actually freely giving away my precious time and energy (my greatest assets) in exchange for fancy titles, so-called “comfort”, and illusory “stability” that could be ripped away at any moment. I was wearing golden handcuffs, cuffed to a one-size-fits-all box, dreaming of retirement just a short 40 years away.
